文章摘要
Chinese silk’s arrival in Rome ignited a fashion craze, embodying Romans’ idealized East. This study traces Rome’s silk pursuit, analyzing maritime Silk Road trade and Eastern exploration as material bases for shifting cognition-from sentimental allure to rational inquiry driven by socioeconomic factors. Silk profoundly shaped Roman material culture and spiritual ideals, illustrating practice-knowledge dialectics. This research not only enriches understanding of the Silk Road and cross-cultural exchanges but also provides valuable insights into the evolution of human cognition in the globalized context.
