文章摘要
The study presents a critical examination of four seminal literary works through the analytical perspectives of innocence, prejudice, persuasion, and freedom. The Chimney Sweeper by Blake reveals the brutal realities of child labor during the Industrial Revolution, employing stark contrasts between childhood innocence and societal corruption. Pride and Prejudice by Austen offers a penetrating critique of Regency-era marriage markets and class hierarchies, exposing the destructive potential of social prejudice. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Twain describes the psychological mechanisms of social influence through its protagonist's strategic manipulation of peer perception. The Cop and the Anthem by O.Henry delivers a poignant commentary on the paradoxes of freedom through its ironic narrative structure and protagonist's circular journey. These texts not only reflect their respective historical contexts but also engage in an enduring dialogue about fundamental human experiences and social structures. The analysis underscores literature's unique capacity to interrogate societal norms while preserving the complexity of individual experience.
