The rise of short videos leads to diverse forms of product promotion. Through the strategy of pragmatic presupposition, the beauty bloggers on Rednote are conveying their communication intentions cleverly to attract consumers and thus market the cosmetics goods. The identification of presupposition triggers is the first step to study pragmatic presupposition. Under the Levinson’s classification of presupposition triggers, this paper will analyze the triggers used in the cosmetics advertising videos released on Rednote, especially the foundation products advertising videos. The functions of them will also be introduced.
