This paper selects the movie poster of Howl’ s Moving Castle as the research object. From the perspective of multi-modal discourse analysis, based on the theory of visual grammar and supplemented by language modes, this paper explores the realization of the meaning of representation, interaction and composition in the series of posters, and discusses how various symbols in the posters, such as images and language, jointly construct the overall meaning of the posters. Finally realize the propaganda function of the poster.
