文章摘要
With the continuous advancement of the Emerging Engineering Education paradigm, China is entering a new era of green innovation and sustainable development, where environmental governance has become a crucial component of national strategy. As a core foundational course for environmental engineering majors, “Principles of Environmental Engineering” plays a key role in cultivating students’ abilities to analyze environmental issues, select pollution control technologies, and perform engineering design. However, traditional teaching methods emphasize theoretical instruction while neglecting engineering practice and case analysis. As a result, the course faces several challenges, including a disconnect between theory and application, weak practical training, insufficient case resources, and deficiencies in students’ innovation and systems thinking capabilities. To address these shortcomings, this study constructs a practice-oriented “golden course” model aligned with the Emerging Engineering Education concept, based on typical engineering case studies. Through optimizing the curriculum framework, enriching experimental and project practice components, and incorporating interdisciplinary integration and virtual simulation platforms, the approach aims to enhance students’ abilities to analyze environmental problems and design solutions within realistic contexts. This research seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice, promote the reform of environmental engineering education, and cultivate high-quality environmental engineering talents with systems thinking, engineering practice, and innovation competencies for the new era.
