Research on Teaching Strategies for “Continuation Writing”under the Cultivation of Core Competencies

With the advancement of the college entrance examination reform, the cultivation of core competencies has emerged as a priority in English teaching. This study systematically investigates the role of Continuation Writing in fostering students’ core competencies—specifically language proficiency, cultural awareness, critical thinking quality, and learning ability. Grounded in the objective of cultivating these core competencies, the research proposes a series of targeted teaching strategies, covering three sequential stages: pre-writing reading stage, pre-writing preparation stage and post-writing evaluation stage. This study endeavors to offer high school English teachers effective teaching references and facilitate the comprehensive development of students’ core competencies in the context of Continuation Writing.
