Innovative Practice of College English Teachers in Application-oriented Teaching in Private Undergraduate Institutions of Architecture and Civil Engineering

Based on the characteristics and talent cultivation requirements of private undergraduate institutions of architecture and civil engineering, this paper deeply explores the innovative practice of college English teachers in application-oriented teaching. By analyzing the problems in the current English teaching of private undergraduate institutions of architecture and civil engineering, combining with the theoretical basis of application-oriented teaching, this paper proposes some innovative strategies from multiple dimensions such as teaching content, teaching methods, and teaching evaluation and illustrates them with practice cases. Research shows that the implementation of a series of innovative practice can effectively enhance English proficiency of students majoring in architecture to meet their future career development needs and at the same time, provide reference for the reform of college English teaching in private undergraduate institutions of architecture and civil engineering.
