文章摘要
This study explores the use of interactive teaching methods to improve the English speaking proficiency of secondary school students. Traditional teacher-centered approaches, focusing on grammar and memorization, limit opportunities for authentic communication. In contrast, interactive teaching emphasizes student-centered learning, promoting active participation through activities such as task-based learning, group discussions, and role-playing. These methods provide a dynamic environment for practicing speaking skills, enhancing fluency, accuracy, and confidence. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including an experimental study with an experimental group using interactive teaching and a control group using traditional methods. Pre- and post-tests assessed fluency, pronunciation, and grammar, while classroom observations and interviews explored student engagement and challenges. Results show that the experimental group made significant improvements in speaking proficiency and demonstrated higher confidence, motivation, and participation. Despite challenges in classroom management and student proficiency differences, the study concludes that interactive teaching effectively fosters communicative competence and prepares students for real-world communication. These findings have important implications for integrating interactive methods into secondary school English education.
