文章摘要
The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education (2022 edition) clearly requires primary school students in grades 3-6 to achieve the first and second levels of reading literacy standards. However, the current English teaching in primary schools is influenced by exam-oriented education. Teachers tend to pay too much attention to knowledge and neglect the cultivation of students' reading quality. In addition, reading materials are limited to textbooks, the content is single, lack of diversity, which is not conducive to the comprehensive development of students' reading literacy to a certain extent. Therefore, how to effectively improve students' English reading literacy has become a hot topic in English reading teaching. English picture books have gradually become an important extra-curricular resource for primary and secondary school teachers in cultivating students' reading literacy due to their unique advantages, namely, their vivid and interesting contents, which are in line with the rules of children's cognitive development. Based on the examples of primary school English picture book reading teaching, this paper explores the methods and strategies of primary school English picture book reading teaching under the condition of reading literacy by analyzing its drawbacks, so as to optimize the teaching design of picture book reading, improve the quality of picture book reading teaching, and achieve the purpose of developing students' reading literacy in their core literacy.
